Historical Background

My Heart Beats Africa Foundation Inc. (MHBAF) was founded in May 2025 by Mr. Curtis Brooks, a distinguished humanitarian, global advocate, and philanthropist whose life and work embody a deep commitment to advancing Africa’s social, economic, and human development.

Motivated by his profound belief in the inherent dignity and potential of every African individual, Mr. Brooks envisioned the Foundation as a transformative platform dedicated to empowering communities, nurturing leadership, and building sustainable futures across the continent.

The genesis of MHBAF was inspired by the recognition that, while Africa is richly endowed with human and natural resources, millions of its people—especially women, children, and youth—continue to face systemic barriers to education, healthcare, economic opportunity, and social inclusion. In response, Mr. Brooks sought to create a vehicle for meaningful change—an organization that blends compassion with innovation, and global insight with local action.

Officially registered in the United States of America as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization, MHBAF stands as a symbol of international solidarity with Africa’s development aspirations. The Foundation operates under the principles of good governance, transparency, accountability, and social justice, ensuring that its initiatives deliver measurable and lasting impact.

Since its inception, MHBAF has positioned itself as a forward-looking institution committed to addressing critical challenges through integrated, community based interventions. Its programs span key areas such as child protection, education, health, agriculture, women’s empowerment, and livelihood development, reflecting a holistic approach to sustainable development.

Guided by African values of solidarity, unity, and collective progress, the Foundation fosters partnerships across borders and sectors—collaborating with governments, development agencies, civil society, and the private sector to amplify its reach and effectiveness. Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Curtis Brooks, Founder and Executive President, MHBAF continues to expand its footprint across Africa, touching lives and transforming communities—one heartbeat at a time.
